1. Who we are
BigiBigi ("BigiBigi", "we", "us") is a car-sharing app that connects people travelling the same way so they can share a journey and its costs. BigiBigi is operated by Manicod, who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the BigiBigi mobile app or this website, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. For any question about it, write to support@bigibigicar.com.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, gender and profile photo. Your mobile number is confirmed with a one-time code and your email address with a verification code.
Profile information. Your bio, spoken languages, travel preferences (chattiness, music, smoking, pets) and your communication preferences for email, push notifications, WhatsApp and phone calls.
Identity documents. A government-issued identity document and a selfie, if you choose to verify your identity (see section 3).
Vehicle information. If you offer rides: your vehicle's make, model, type, colour, registration number and seat layout.
Ride information. Pickup, drop and stopover locations, dates and times, seats offered or booked, seat choices, amenities, price per seat, booking and cancellation history, and the ratings and reviews exchanged after a journey.
Places. The places you pick in the location search, so the app can show your recent places next time.
Messages and files. Chat messages you send to other members and to our support team, and any photos or files you attach.
Payment records. If you pay a platform fee: the amount, date, payment status and transaction reference (see section 6).
Device information. Your device's push notification token, app version, and language and region settings.
Usage and crash data. Unless you turn it off, how you use the app and technical reports when it crashes (see section 8).
3. Identity verification and camera access
To help members trust each other, you can verify your identity by uploading a government-issued identity document and taking a selfie with your device camera. Face detection runs on your device to guide the selfie; it does not send face data anywhere. The resulting photo and document are uploaded to us and checked by our team — we do not use an outside verification service.
These images are used only to verify your identity and to investigate reports of misuse. They are never shown to other members. Other members only see a badge saying whether your identity has been verified.
The app asks for camera and photo access only when you use a feature that needs it: identity verification, a profile or vehicle photo, or attaching an image in chat. You can refuse, or withdraw the permission later in your device settings; only those features stop working.
4. Location
While you use the app. With your permission, we use your device's location to suggest nearby pickup points and to show rides and routes on the map.
Live ride tracking (drivers). When you start a ride as its driver, BigiBigi shares your location with the passengers on that ride, so they can see the car approaching and know when to be at the pickup point. This continues while the ride is under way, including when the app is closed or your screen is off, and your phone shows a notification the whole time it is running. It stops as soon as you end the ride. We ask for this "background location" permission at the moment you start a ride, not before, and the ride still works if you refuse — passengers just won't see the car move. Location is never tracked in the background when you travel as a passenger, or when no ride is under way.
Sharing a ride. You can send a link to a ride to someone you trust. Opening the link shows no ride details on its own: the person has to sign in to BigiBigi before they can see the ride.
Maps, place search and routes are provided by Google Maps Platform. Your search terms and the relevant coordinates are sent to Google to return results, and the map in the app loads directly from Google.
5. Messages, reports and SOS
Chat messages between members, and any files attached to them, are stored so the conversation is available on your device and so we can investigate reports of abuse, fraud or safety incidents.
When you report a ride or a member, we record the reason you choose and what you write, together with the ride and account records we need to look into it. If you raise an SOS during a ride, we record your location at that moment along with the ride. Conversations with our support team are kept as a record of the issue and how it was resolved.
6. Payments
Drivers pay BigiBigi's platform fee through Razorpay. You enter your card, UPI or bank details directly in Razorpay's checkout; we do not receive or store them. We keep the amount, date, status and transaction reference of each payment, and issue a receipt for it.
7. Notifications
We send notifications about bookings, cancellations, messages, payments and your account. Push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, which needs a notification token from your device; we store that token against your account. One-time codes and some ride updates are sent through WhatsApp, and email verification codes by email.
You choose which notifications you receive, and on which channel, in the app's communication preferences. You can also turn push notifications off entirely in your device settings.
8. How we use your information
- To create and run your account, and to sign you in
- To publish rides, match passengers with drivers, and manage bookings and cancellations
- To verify identities and vehicles, and show verification badges to other members
- To let members message and call each other about a ride
- To show a ride's live progress to the people on it
- To handle reports and SOS alerts, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms
- To collect platform fees and issue receipts
- To send the notifications you have chosen to receive
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
Usage analytics and crash reports. To understand how the app is used and to find and fix problems, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. They record which screens you open and the steps you take in the app — for example signing in, searching for, publishing, booking or cancelling a ride, paying a platform fee, sending a message or submitting a rating — together with your device model, operating system, app version, an identifier for the app installation, and an approximate location (country or city) that Google works out from your IP address. If the app crashes, they also record a technical report of the error.
While you are signed in, this data is linked to your BigiBigi account ID and to a few details about your account: whether you are using the app as a driver or a passenger, whether your identity is verified, whether you have added a vehicle, your app language, whether notifications are allowed, and roughly how long you have had your account. It never includes your name, phone number, email address, the content of your messages, addresses or map coordinates, or your vehicle's registration number.
This is switched on by default. You can turn it off at any time with Share usage & crash data in the app (Profile → More); both analytics and crash reporting then stop on that device, and the setting stays off even if you sign out.
We do not use your information for advertising, and the app contains no advertising.
9. What other members can see
Other members see your name, profile photo, bio, spoken languages, travel preferences, verification badges, ratings and reviews, and the rides you have published or booked. They also see your vehicle's details if you offer rides.
Your phone number is shown to other members only in masked form. Once a booking is accepted, the driver and that passenger can call each other from the app; the app dials the number without displaying it. Your identity documents, selfie, date of birth and email address are never shown to other members.
10. Service providers we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers below, only as far as their service requires, and only for the purposes in this policy:
- MongoDB Atlas and our cloud hosting providers — store the app's data and run our servers
- Google Maps Platform — maps, place search and routes
- Google Firebase — push notification delivery, usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
- Meta (WhatsApp Business) — one-time codes and ride updates
- Our email provider — email verification codes
- Razorpay — processing platform-fee payments
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of members and the public.
11. Storage and security
Your information is stored on servers run by our cloud providers, which may be located outside India. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Sign-in tokens are kept in your device's secure storage, identity documents are stored with restricted access, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it to run BigiBigi.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
12. How long we keep information, and deleting your account
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. Photos and files you start uploading but never save are deleted automatically.
You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete account), or request deletion on the web. Deletion takes effect immediately; any upcoming rides and bookings you have are cancelled and the other people on them are told. It is refused only while one of your rides is actually in progress.
When your account is deleted, we delete your identity documents and selfie, your photos and uploaded files, your vehicles, your saved places, your notifications, your support conversations, any SOS alerts you raised, and the reviews other members wrote about you. Your name, phone number, email address and other identifying details are removed from your account.
Some records stay because they also belong to other people, or because we need them for accounting:
- Past rides and bookings, chat messages you sent, and reviews you wrote remain in other members' history, shown as "Deleted user"
- Receipts for platform fees you paid are kept for our accounting records
- Reports you filed about a ride or a chat, and reports filed about you, are kept so safety issues can still be investigated
- If you owed an unpaid platform fee, a record of it is kept against the vehicle's registration number
- Usage analytics and crash data already collected are not removed straight away: they are linked only to your account ID, not your name or contact details, and are deleted automatically within 14 months (crash reports within 90 days)
Deleted information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited time until those backups are overwritten.
13. Your rights and choices
You can see and correct most of your information directly in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw consent you have given (for example, to optional notifications, or to usage and crash data), or raise a complaint about how we handle your data. Write to support@bigibigicar.com and we will respond within 30 days.
14. Children
BigiBigi is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top always shows the current version, and we will tell you in the app before a change that materially affects your rights takes effect.
